It is not uncommon to hear adults proclaim, “I'm a beginner", or "I am not very good, but I would love to study art.” All we can say is, this is how most artist have felt at one point along their personal journeys!
It is a rare adult, who, as a newcomer to the visual arts, doesn't feel some apprehension or doubt when starting to take classes. This is understandable; they have been conditioned to think, “Art = Skill.” Granted, some do have a natural talent for the visual arts, but what most adults do not realize is that almost anyone can be taught. And even those with natural skill must continue to learn and practice.
Beginners start by; acquiring a solid understanding of basic skills, motivation to continue their lessons, and the ethic to faithfully practice just for the shear joy of art.
